for the grandparents

H. and S. recently had their well-child appointments for 2yrs. and 4 months, respectively. H. was 24 lbs and 33.5 inches. Can you say skinny? S. was 13 lbs and 24 in. Can you say not so skinny? I guess we can see which child takes after which parent. Truth be told, though, I really do love Scout's rolly little thighs. So very very cute!

i love holidays.

cousin abi at the 4th o' july breakfast

brent loves all things holiday as is demonstrated by this picture

moments before the burn incident. the tinder fell off the end of the sparkler and H. promptly stepped on it burning the bottom of his foot. OUCH!

at least he didn't let the burn ruin the rest of his evening. here he is enjoying the fireworks.

it's back. the computer that died in the great power surge of '09 is finally fixed. i've been so lost without it. i would daresay i missed my computer more than i missed my dishwasher. is this a commentary on modern society or just my own pathetic-ness?

following is a rundown of recent happs. pictures to come as soon as i download them.

1. july 4th-yummy breakfast at Murray Park and a giant burn on H.'s foot from stepping on a sparkler tinder. i don't want to discuss the fact that i let him play with sparklers in bare feet. i'm a bad, bad mother. one more reason to save for therapy i suppose.

2. july 8-10th- family reunion at Alturas Lake in ID. fun stuff. dig on my family.

3. july 12th- hosted family for scout's blessing. good times.

4. july 15th- went fishing with B. for his 35th birthday. very nice. very relaxing. very chill.

5. july 17th- had a little bbq for H.'s second b-day. can NOT believe he's that old. good grief. where has the time gone?

***TOTALLY UNRELATED***

a word on gentian violet. if your child ever has thrush feel free to go the doctor if you must, but i would just go straight out and get gentian violet. $2 is what this stuff cost and it worked in 1 week. after having thrush for three months and several refills of diflucan and nystatin it was just 1 week of g.v. that cured little S.
i must ask. why, why didn't my ped mention this in the beginning?!? maybe because there are no gentian violet reps offering the office staff lunch if they'll push their product.

thanks to all of you who came through with the info on this fabulous product.

Seen recently:

a coffee shop and a dry cleaner combined. at first i thought this was odd, then i realized it was a brilliant marketing ploy. give the people coffee while they pick up their dry cleaning. oh! sorry sir, did i bump you? what? coffee all over your new/favorite shirt? i know just the place you can take that.

do you think that even the worst stylists who work at bikini cuts can keep their job because their clients might be just a little more forgiving? i mean their bosoms are on display after all. how could you not be more lenient of a slightly uneven cut if the person giving it is willing to walk around in her bra all day? i'm just sayin'...

Wondering:
how do i change my blog background? i've tried a couple of times and it just ends up looking funky. like some of the old elements still remain with a new background. --i like this look, it's just a little dark. i need something light and perky... like me. hahahahahaha.

do you have a recipe for a good breakfast "cookie". if so, please share. i've tried a couple and they're pretty good, but variety is the spice of life.

Update:
S. has been on the gentian violet plus probiotics regimen for her thrush and it seems to be getting better. i'm assuming that since she's had it for 3 months that it may take awhile. how long would you wait before taking her back into the ped? i was wondering if maybe the addition of a new prescription of either nystatin or diflucan might really do the trick.

A Must See:
check out this link. it is a hysterical "literal" version of the video for Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler. so so so funny. watch the whole thing, you will truly laugh out loud.
